The answer is easier than you might think. Start by measuring the area where you want your rug. This measurement will give you a rough idea of the size you need. To determine the right size, pull out the dining chairs so they are the same distance from the table as if someone were about to sit down. How do I clean a cotton or wool rug?

These natural fiber rugs don’t require much extra maintenance beyond normal cleaning. Be extra vigilant with vacuuming during the first few months, as new wool and cotton rugs tend to shed.

Rotate your rug 180 degrees about every 6 months to even out wear from foot traffic and dirt buildup. Smaller rugs can also be shaken outside for dust removal. Hang them out for an hour or so to let the sun deodorize them—but not too long to prevent fading.
