The piece
Kashmar
A deep blue field forms the backdrop for a traditional medallion design rendered in a finely detailed hand-made weave. The central red medallion and surrounding arabesques are built from layered motifs in cream, brown and light brown, while touches of green, light green, purple and orange thread through the floral and vase elements to add visual depth. The wide border frames the composition with repeating cartouches and palmettes, and finished fringed ends give a classic, handcrafted look. Made by hand of 100% wool, the pile has a warm, slightly cushioned feel underfoot and a tight weave that preserves the clarity of the small-scale ornamentation.
