A classic Persian medallion composition in a bordeaux field, this handmade silk rug presents a central sunburst medallion framed by dense floral arabesques and ornate corner spandrels. Cream and beige borders with repeating palmette motifs provide a lighter contrast to the deep background, while accents of orange, light blue and green add subtle pops of color throughout the pattern. The silk pile is smooth and lustrous to the touch, with tightly worked knots that render the intricate motifs with clear definition and a delicate, satiny sheen.
This piece works well as an accent in smaller seating areas, a foyer, or layered over a larger neutral foundation to introduce color and pattern without overwhelming the room. Dining Room
Choose a rug that extends at least 24 inches beyond each side of the table so chairs can slide in and out comfortably.
Entryway
A 3x5 or 4x6 rug works well for most entryways. Make sure it does not interfere with the door opening.
Living Room
For a seating area, choose a rug large enough so that at least the front legs of all furniture pieces sit on the rug. Common sizes are 8x10 or 9x12.
Kitchen
A runner rug works great in front of the sink or stove. For larger kitchens, a 4x6 or 5x8 can anchor the space.
Bedroom
Place a large rug under the bed so it extends 2-3 feet on each side, or use smaller rugs on either side of the bed.
