Hereke Silk
A compact prayer-rug layout centered on a scalloped arch gives this piece a clear traditional character. The brown field provides a warm, even backdrop for the delicate motifs—an ornate hanging medallion suspended within the arch and paired columnar motifs—while beige highlights trace the floral vines and border details. Narrow guard borders and a wider outer band frame the composition with repeated floral and rosette patterns, and finished fringe anchors each end. Hand made of silk, the surface has a low, dense pile and a smooth, satiny sheen that picks up light and emphasizes the fine knot work.
