The piece
Hereke Silk
A finely detailed central medallion sits within a stylized mihrab arch, surrounded by scrolling vines, palmettes and delicate floral sprays that trace the field in a rhythmic, woven pattern. Narrow cartouches with calligraphic motifs and a layered border frame the composition, while soft beige accents pick out the floral outlines against a warm brown background. Tiny, tightly tied knots give the surface a smooth, low pile and the handmade silk construction produces a soft hand and subtle sheen that catches light without overwhelming the weave. Natural fringe finishes the ends for a classic look.

Pair this piece with traditional interiors—dark wood furniture and leather or carved accents will harmonize with the rug’s warm brown field and detailed pattern. It also works well as an intimate accent in a study or reading nook, layered over a larger neutral rug in a living room to add texture, or in a formal entry where the narrow layout and vertical motif can lead the eye. The refined silk surface makes it ideal where close-up detail and a soft touch are appreciated.
