Bidjar With Silk
A traditional Persian medallion design sits at the center of this handmade wool and silk rug, surrounded by a finely worked allover field and a layered, ornate border. The cream background brightens the composition while a deep red central medallion and matching border anchor the pattern. Flowers, scrolling vines and small geometric motifs are rendered in cream, green, blue and dark blue accents, and silk highlights give select details a soft, subtle sheen against the denser wool pile. Running your hand across the surface you feel the contrast between the plush wool and the smoother silk accents, which sharpen the pattern and add a gentle luster.
