The piece
Bokhara
A deep dark blue field anchors a traditional Bokhara-inspired pattern of octagonal compartments and repeating gul motifs in beige, ivory and puce. The multiple fine borders carry tight geometric rows that frame the central design and draw the eye inward. Hand-knotted of wool with silk highlights, the rug has a dense, low pile from the wool and a smooth surface with subtle sheen where the silk catches the light, bringing detail and depth to the medallions and border work.
