The piece
Ghom Silk
A finely knotted silk rug with a classic Persian medallion layout, this piece presents a dense floral field and scrolling vine work that radiates from a central rosette. The background is dark brown, framing a warm red inner field filled with delicate blossoms and palmettes in soft blush, cream, pale blue and muted gold. The border carries larger floral corner spandrels and an ornate band of repeating floral motifs, giving the design a formal, traditional character. Running your hand across the surface you feel the silk’s smooth, low pile and notice a subtle, luminous sheen that highlights the intricate knotting and fine detailing.
