The piece
Cowhide - Patchwork
A handcrafted cowhide and leather rug with a structured patchwork pattern set on a dark brown ground. Rectangular tiles in beige, light brown and medium brown alternate horizontally and vertically to form a basket-weave effect that adds rhythm and visual depth. The strong contrast between the warm tan tones and the deep dark brown background creates a contemporary, grounded look that complements both neutral and richer palettes.

The hair-on cowhide surface is soft to the touch but remains low-profile and sturdy, with natural variations in nap and color that give the rug subtle surface interest. Each leather patch is stitched into place by hand, so the rug has a tactile mix of smooth leather grain and the short, plush hair that catches light differently as you move around the room.
Place this rug beneath a low coffee table to anchor a modern living area, layer it over hardwood in a study or entry to add warmth, or use it in a loft or farmhouse setting where natural materials and geometric patterning enhance wood and metal finishes. Its mix of warm browns works well with leather seating, walnut furniture, and black or matte metal accents.
