The piece
Kilim Maymana
A tight allover field of small lozenges and diamonds creates a lively geometric carpet, surrounded by several stepped borders filled with tiny chevrons, crosses and motif repeats. The multi-colored background brings together warm gold, red and brown tones with cooler blue and light-blue highlights and olive accents, all balanced by natural and beige elements. The repeating diamond medallions each contain miniature motifs that give the rug a handcrafted, rhythmic quality and a layered, time-worn look.
