The piece
Nepal
A deep puce ground sets a warm, velvety canvas for a bold, contemporary medallion at the center. Angular blocks of cobalt and navy blue form the core, overlaid with energetic, brushlike strokes in beige, gray, green, orange, brown and black that create a layered, almost collage-like effect. A narrow dark border and soft ivory fringe frame the composition. Hand-knotted of 100% wool, the pile feels dense and plush underfoot with a subtle woolen sheen and a pleasantly tactile, closely sheared surface.
