The piece
Gabbeh
Hand made of 100% wool, this runner displays a strong geometric composition of three stepped diamond medallions set against a warm red ground. Each medallion contains a small checkerboard of muted teal, ivory, mustard and rust, while the surrounding field is scattered with circular floral roundels, tiny star motifs and angular stepped accents. Multiple narrow guard borders—featuring zigzags, hooked motifs and lozenge repeats in navy, gold and cream—frame the composition and provide a measured contrast to the red background. The wool pile is dense and springy to the touch, with a slightly nubby surface and subtle tonal variations that reveal the hand-made character.
