It is rather thin but that is what one would expect from leather. I bought a pad too. We shall see over time if the stitching remains in tact.

I really like this rug but unfortunately after having it for 2 months it still curls up on one side. I have tried many things to flatten the rug but it did not work. It is actually a tripping hazard and I will probably have to move it to a very low traffic area.
