Why we love Athens
Athens sits in the gentle folds of East Tennessee, in the Great Valley between the Cumberland Plateau and the Smoky Mountains. Ridgelines hold the horizon in every direction, farm fields roll out in green and gold, and the seasons take their time. Spring arrives in dogwood and redbud, summer hums with long evenings on the porch, and autumn sets the hillsides glowing in amber and rust. Across the metro, from Etowah and Englewood to Niota, Riceville and Calhoun, you find a friendly, front-porch way of life with the Hiwassee River and the mountains close by.
That easygoing spirit carries right indoors. Homes here are built for gathering, from brick ranches and farmhouses to railroad-era town cottages, and a good rug is what makes them feel finished. Shoppers around Athens are choosing beige, ivory and dark gray, in modern and vintage styles, and machine made weaves that stand up to busy family life. Find the rug your room has been waiting for on Rugs.com.
Shop Athens's favoritesValley Light, Soft Neutrals
Soft light spills over the ridges and into Athens homes, and beige and ivory rugs catch it beautifully. They brighten a living room and echo the pale fields beyond the window.
Four Seasons Indoors
With bright springs and crisp autumns, rooms here change with the year. A dark gray rug anchors a space through cooler months, and layers well with throws and warm wood tones.
Farmhouse Meets Modern
Brick ranches, farmhouses and town cottages all find a match in vintage-inspired and modern rugs. Either one adds character underfoot and ties a room together with easy, welcoming style.
