Handmade of cowhide and leather, this rug assembles hundreds of small square patches into a tight mosaic that reads as a pixelated checkerboard. The multi-tonal background moves between ivory, beige, light brown, tan, warm brown and black, creating a lively but grounded palette. Running stitch lines between patches add a subtle grid texture, while the hair-on-hide surface gives a soft, slightly glossy nap and gentle tactile variation where each hide meets the next.
