The piece
Cowhide Stocks
Hand made of cowhide and leather, this rug arranges elongated diamond panels into a tight harlequin patchwork. The multi background carries a warm palette of beige, brown, light brown, ivory and black, with each hide square showing its own natural markings — speckles, flecks and solid areas — that create subtle contrast across the surface. Neat stitching defines each diamond and the hair-on-hide finish gives the surface a soft, slightly raised nap with natural variation from panel to panel.
