What size round rug fits under a dining table?
Measure across the table and add about 2 ft on every side, so chairs stay on the rug when someone sits down. A table about 4 ft across usually sits well on an 8 ft round.
Where does a round rug work besides the dining room?
Round rugs suit entryways, nurseries, reading corners and the space under a round coffee table. They also help break up a room full of square furniture.
How do I keep a round rug flat and in place?
A rug pad underneath helps the rug lie flat and stops it sliding. If the edges curl after delivery, lay the rug flat for a day or two, or roll it gently the other way.
Choosing a round rug
A round rug softens the straight lines of a room and gives a seating spot or a table a clear centre.
Under a round dining table: measure the table and add about 2 ft on every side, so the chairs stay on the rug when they are pulled out. A table about 4 ft across usually sits well on an 8 ft round.
Entryways and landings: a 3 ft to 5 ft round leaves room to open the door and walk around it.
Nurseries and reading corners: a 5 ft or 6 ft round marks out a play or reading spot without covering the whole floor.
Living rooms: under a round coffee table, a 6 ft to 8 ft round keeps the front legs of nearby chairs on the rug.
